How To
Build A Chicken Coop Using DIY Chicken Coops
Plans
Dear Fellow
Chicken Farmer
Designing your own chicken coop from scratch is
a very tough and time consuming process. That is why I
went on the internet to try and find accurate plans to
embark on building my own chicken coop. I was tempted to
go for a pre-built coop but thought that the price of one
was outside my budget. Also I would have had to have
assembled the pre-built chicken run anyway. I wanted some
plans that I could follow as an amateur urban chicken
farmer and more importantly did not want plans that
required a diploma in architecture to read!
It was important for me to find
plans that included all the vital components of a commercially
built chicken coop. These components included adequate
ventilation, lighting, a chicken run, and perches for my
chickens. I then went down to my hardware store and priced up
my project. By doing the work myself I would save around 50% on
the price of a commercially built coop. This made me decide to
go ahead and buy a suitable set of plans and a step-by-step
build your own chicken coop guide. Where did I start with my
research? Like you, I went on the internet and simply typed in
"DIY chicken coops" and "chicken coop plans". I was not
interested in free plans as I wanted to learn how to build a
sturdy and well constructed coop.
The three criteria I used when
searching for my guide were: ease of use, step by step
instructions and clear plans.
I was also interested in the ease
of use of my DIY chicken coop after construction. For example,
how easy would it be to clean my DIY chicken coop and could my
children easily collect the eggs without my supervision. Of
paramount importance was the health and well being of my
chickens living in their new home.

Chickens,
